Although we endeavor to make your roofing installation process as seamless and painless as possible, installations are often noisy, disruptive work. Because of this, there are a few things you can do to prepare for your roofing installation that will make the process easier for you.
- Account for small children and pets. If you have small children, the noise of the installation will likely interfere with their nap times or sleep. Pets may also be distressed by the noise in the same way they would be by fireworks on Fourth of July. For kids, it is recommended to send them off to play with a friend or visit family, take them on a day trip, or, if they are old enough, explain the situation to them so that they aren’t surprised by the sounds. For pets, it may be best to send them elsewhere for the day, or ask your vet about anything you can give them to keep them calm. And, most importantly, if you do decide to keep either kids or pets at home, make sure they stay inside.
- Take down hanging or delicate objects. The roofing installation process will result in vibrations traveling from the roof down into the rest of the house. If you have pictures hanging on the walls or anything you would be worried about falling, take them down before the installation begins. Similarly, clear away any potted plants outside that you are worried could be damaged by stray shingles or debris falling from the roof.
- Clear out your driveway. We will need to bring our own supplies in to have them accessible, so try to park on the street on the day of the installation.
With these quick tips, you should be in for a far more peaceful roofing installation. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact us.
